Holy Cup Discord

Submission deadline: Sunday, 26. September 2021, 15:00 UTC

Holy smokes! It’s the Holy Cup map contest!

Time for all map creators to embrace the word “holy”! Let your creativity flow around the term and incorporate it on your best map.

Rules and Settings

Requirements for the map contest will be as follows:

  1. The map should include some reference to the word “holy” in the gameplay. You can use the broader sense of the word you can think of but it must be incorporated in the gameplay in some form.
  2. The map must work in AoE2:DE
  3. It has to be suitable for 1v1
  4. It has to be competitive in standard 1v1 ranked queue settings (tiny map, conquest victory, dark age start, etc.)
  5. In the case of herdables spawning near the starting TC, at least one of them must be under control of the player
  6. You can only submit one map¹
  7. Only original maps are allowed

Please submit the .rms file of your map alongside a brief description and optionally a nice screenshot of your creation in game or with the help of capture age (.jpg or .png).

The judging criteria used by the judges will be:

  • Competitiveness (is the map competitive and balanced) – up to 20 points
  • Complexity (can the map be the theatre for a fairly wide range of strategic approaches and playstyles) – up to 10 points
  • Originality (is the map one-of-its-kind or does it feel generic) – up to 10 points
  • Visual appeal (does the map look nice) – up to 5 points
  • Clever use of “holy” in the gameplay – up to 5 points

The judges for this contest are daehiise, Huehuecoyotl22, Lavie Head, and T-West, making up a paritary jury. Nili will also be part of the judging committee, as a representative of the host of the tournament.

Warning: If Nili gives a map the score of 0/5 in the category »Clever use of “holy” in the gameplay«, the map will be automatically disqualified for not meeting the requirements for the map contest.

After judging, the 7 maps with the highest score will be featured in the Holy Cup tournament happening from 8 to 10 October 2021, and their creators will receive a prize of $ 100.

Good luck!

¹ If you submit multiple times, it will each time replace your previous submission. This also means you can easily update your submission (before the deadline!) by submitting a new version under the same user name.
